We’ve recently finalised the design and supervised the implementation of the donor signage at St John of God Hospital Bendigo. The brief was to create a lasting expression of gratitude, recognising the individuals, families, businesses who together raised over $2.8 million to bring advanced robotic surgery to Bendigo, reducing the need for patients to travel to Melbourne.
As the donor group was fixed, the names could be permanently integrated, removing the need for a digital solution. The client had also produced a video, which was seamlessly incorporated into the installation.
The outcome is a continuous linear composition of 6mm thick square aluminium planes, set forward and back to help categorise donor groups. This stepped language draws directly from the hospital’s main façade, while the orange tone reflects the St John of God brand colour. Applied in multiple translucent paint layers, it creates a remarkable depth and luminosity across the surface. Installed within the hospital’s main atrium, the piece immediately captures attention on entry, creating an immediate sense of recognition and gratitude.
